**Position Overview:**
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within our environmental services operations. This role requires a proactive approach to safety management, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs and initiatives. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate closely with field staff, management, and regulatory agencies to enhance safety culture and reduce incidents.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Safety Program Development:**
- Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
2. **Training and Education:**
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees, including onboarding for new hires.
- Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
3. **Incident Management:**
- Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, documenting findings and developing action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance activities.
4. **Regulatory Compliance:**
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry standards; ensure company practices align with compliance requirements.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory agencies as required.
5. **Safety Culture Promotion:**
- Foster a positive safety culture through regular communication, recognition of safe practices, and engagement activities.
- Serve as a safety liaison, promoting open dialogue and collaboration among all employees regarding safety concerns and improvements.
6. **Data Analysis and Reporting:**
- Collect, analyze, and report safety performance metrics to management.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement, providing recommendations for enhancements to safety programs.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in environmental services or a related industry.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental safety standards.
- Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
**Preferred Certifications:**
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar safety certification.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
