Please review the following job description:

Engage with Truist Commercial Real Estate (Truist CRE) leadership in its management of risks and controls as well as its execution of risk program requirements. Execute, facilitate and/or monitor execution of Risk Program requirements (e.g., RCSA, KRIs, etc.) within the Business Unit and GCO. Provide risk advice and influence to assigned Business Unit. Aggregate, integrate, correlate and report risks for assigned Business Unit. Identify and opine on remediation to address weaknesses related to inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems, or external events and ensure effective remediation.

Specific responsibilities may change over time but include the below. 

  • Provide leadership and coaching to ensure the CCB & CRE GCO team executes responsibilities with excellence and consistent with the vision of the GCO.  Champion culture, engagement, happiness, and leading with Purpose.  Lead coordination and assistance with other teams within the CCB & CRE GCO function, as needed, to accomplish overall priorities for the team.  
  • Lead assigned Risk Control Self-Assessments for National Real Estate, Real Estate Corporate and Investment Banking and Truist Community Capital, including documentation and evaluation of processes, risks and controls. 
  • Proactively identify risks and issues and drive sustainable and timely remediation. 
  • Serve as a SME to the first line of defense for effective risk control design, implementation, and related risk mitigation for assigned coverage areas. 
  • Support business initiatives to ensure strategic priorities appropriately balance risk and compliance considerations by leveraging SME knowledge of assigned coverage areas. 
  • Autonomously design and refine monitoring and testing of processes to assess the effectiveness of first of line defense execution of assigned processes consistent with Truist risk programs, regulatory and compliance requirements, and applicable enterprise policies.  
  • Administer and/or leverage respective risk governance framework to report on and escalate identified top and emerging risks and out of appetite risk resultsDevelop and implement risk metrics and participate in program activities, to monitor, trend and report on riskWhere applicable, help drive the risk agenda and develop content for risk working groups. 
  • Identify and champion process optimization opportunities with business partners to drive efficiencies and consistencies in execution where appropriate. 
  • Collaborate with Business Unit and Enablement teammates, as appropriate, to ensure adequate teammate training and communication for significant people, process, system, regulatory, and/or policy and procedural changes. 
  • Maintain productive relationships and accountability with key 1LOD, 2LOD, and Other Partners to effectively execute risk programs and governance routines. 
  • Provide Risk Advisory expertise for risk identification and aggregation, risk program execution, RCSA, internal control monitoring, controls effectiveness evaluation, risk remediation, risk measurement, and risk reporting as applicable for assigned coverage areas.  
  • Serve as POC for assigned Regulatory Exams, Audits, and 3rd Party TestingLead walk-throughs, internal exit meetings, and tracking of findings and observations and remediation thereofVet responses and ensure they are submitted timely after GCO Manager approval. 

 

Qualifications 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field, or equivalent education and related training. 

  • Eight plus years of experience in a financial institution with emphasis on risk management or equivalent work experience and training, and/or equivalent education, training and experience. 

  • Strong knowledge of SOX and other industry-related regulatory requirements. 

  • Strong knowledge of operational and other non-financial risks. 

  • Ability to assess levels of adherence/execution and identify risk/control improvement opportunities in risk management principles/controls, broad based business practices, and Business Unit activities/processes. 

  • Strong written and verbal skills.  

  • Solid problem solving skills in complex environments. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to operate without close supervision; Capable of handling multiple projects concurrently. 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products. 

  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong knowledge in field of Commercial Real Estate lending. 
  • Governance and Controls experience. 
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business, or equivalent education and related training. 
  • 12 years of banking or relevant experience. 
  • Audit experience.
