Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Shop Assistant to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess experience with various tools and equipment. As a Shop Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the production process by assisting with assembly, fabrication, the CNC Machinist, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Prepare material stock for manufacturing.
- Support production by processing parts after machining.
- Operate saws, sanders, grinders, tumblers, drill presses and shot peen.
- Use basic inspection equipment such as calipers and measuring tapes.
- Package parts and material.
- Break down tools and fixtures after work orders have been completed.
- Provide support for production as requested by Machine Shop Leads.
- Operate a forklift on occasion.
- Assist maintenance with facility housekeeping.
- Follow all ISO, ITAR, and safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Other reasonable duties such as business and operational needs dictate.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and assemble products as needed.
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and be part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Operate with minimal supervision once trained.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Basic computer and writing skills.
