Truly Good Foods has sales and distribution offices in Orlando, Atlanta, Washington DC, Reno, Dallas and Charlotte, NC. Our SQF, Kosher and organic production facility in Charlotte roasts nuts & seeds daily and blends over 60 bulk snack mixes. These facilities also package and re-box many of our items to meet our customers' varied needs. Charlotte is our corporate headquarters, and is home to purchasing, accounting, and sales & marketing offices.
Job Summary
The Shipping Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the shipping department. This role ensures timely, accurate, and efficient shipping of products, adhere to safety and quality standards, and effective supervision of the shipping team.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties
· Reads computer files or gathers records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips, to compile needed data.
· Prepares invoices and dates of shipment.
· Prepares bills of lading and lists weight and serial number of items sold. Prepares shipping labels and arranges LTL pick-ups.
· Coordinates and oversees all shipping activities, including order picking, packing, labeling, and dispatching.
· Posts transactions to accounting records such as work sheet, ledger, or computer files.
· Inspect product on the pallets before shipping them out.
· Collaborates with other departments (e.g., production, logistics, sales, customer support, etc.) to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
· Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against records.
· Supports and supervises direct reports to ensure high levels of accuracy in the receiving process.
· Responsible for training and cross-training of the department.
· Operates tier lift truck, forklift, or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping area to shipping dock.
· Works with the Safety Manager to ensure full compliance of safety procedures and policies.

Scope of Responsibility
· This job will have periodic access to confidential data including customer quotes, product costs, and employee information.
· This job follows standard practices and procedures and is expected to accomplish work assignments with a limited amount of supervision.
· Directly supervises employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
· Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and understand English.
· Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of how a Warehouse Management System works.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, two to three years of supervisory experience.
Physical Demands
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Tools, Equipment, and Machinery
· Must have ability to operate pallet jack, forklift or similar machinery, tools, and equipment, as needed, in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
Work Environment
· Work is performed in a shipping environment and disruptions occur frequently.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
