The Clinical Fellow (CF) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) assists the Senior SLP in providing speech and language services. The Clinical Fellow Speech Language Pathologist works in accordance with state and health regulations and Standards of Practice of Speech Pathology. The SLP Clinical Fellow is considered a mentored clinical experience that begins after academic course work and clinical practicum. The Clinical Fellow Speech Language Pathologist must work under the clinical supervision and mentoring from an experienced client Speech Language Pathologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Each Clinical Fellow must meet the Standards outlined by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA) -Provides components of a speech and language program as specified in the treatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordance with the physician's plan of care according to state regulations -Self-identifies as CF-SLP to families, students, and district staff -Assists the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation -Assists the SLP during assessment of students, exclusive of administration and/or interpretation -Assists the SLP with bilingual translation during screening and assessment activities exclusive of interpretation -Provides timely and accurate documentation of student performance and reports this information to the supervising SLP -May assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP -Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition of the student to the supervising SLP and alternate clinical designee as indicated -Maintains communication with the district and other personnel caring for the student to assure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care within the scope of practice -May participate in formal care conferences, parent conferences, and intra-disciplinary team meetings only with the presence of the supervising SLP -Supports the supervising SLP in research projects, in-service training, public relations programs and marketing programs -Promotes early identification and early intervention activities -May present primary prevention information to individuals or groups known to be at risk for communication disorders -Exhibits compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regulations -Actively participates in the required supervision by a SLP to ensure quality of care to all persons served Minimum Requirements: -Must be a graduate of a SLP program with a bachelor's or Master's degree in a speech-language pathology -Must comply with accepted professional standards and practice -Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice -Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program -TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable -Must meet all federal, state and local requirements -Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site -Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements -Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required -Computer proficiency required -Must be at least 18 years of age
