Payroll Specialist
General Description: The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring timely pay for all employees while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Qualifications: High school diploma required, associate's degree in accounting or a related field preferred or higher and two years of payroll accounting experience preferred Minimum two years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in an education setting Strong knowledge of payroll principles and practices, including Ohio-specific regulations Possess knowledge of basic accounting procedures and ability to accurately perform mathematical operations Ability to take initiative, display tact, maintain and communicate with a professional demeanor during times of stress and have the willingness to learn new duties Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and payroll software (e.g., USPS) Knowledge of and competence in technology including but not limited to state software, Employee Self Service (ESS), Benelogic, SCView software, Microsoft Office and Google Suite for Education Possess the ability to safeguard and protect confidential information Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and consistently meet deadlines, both independently and within a team setting
Starting Date: July 1, 2025, with some training dates prior to July 1, 2025
Length of Contract: 260 days
Salary: Specialist Salary Schedule ($54,615 to $84,653)
