Job Summary
The Medical Records Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining patient medical records within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of patient information while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. Duties
- Organize and maintain patient medical records in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all patient information is accurately entered into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Review and verify the completeness of medical records, ensuring all necessary documentation is present.
- Respond to requests for patient information from authorized personnel while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of record management policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in medical records.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records for quality assurance and compliance purposes.
- Train new staff on proper record management practices and systems usage.
- Take call for nursing during the call rotation.
Qualifications
- LPN license
- Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and software applications related to medical records management.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Certification in Health Information Management or related field is a plus but not required.
