McNair Program Coordinator
Job Responsibilities
The McNair Programming Specialist will assist in recruiting, supporting, and mentoring first-generation and underrepresented undergraduate students in the McNair Scholars Program. This role involves planning and coordinating recruitment and outreach activities, delivering academic support and workshops, supervising student staff, and ensuring compliance with program regulations. The Specialist will also maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, alumni, and external partners to foster academic success and prepare students for graduate school. This is an exempt, year-round, grant-funded position.

- Lead recruitment and outreach efforts for McNair-eligible students, which includes facilitating the Explore McNair Program for first-year students, maintaining the program’s website and social media platforms, and coordinating the annual application review process
- Plan and deliver seminars, workshops, and other programming to support the academic development and graduate school preparation of participants
- Provide individualized academic guidance and track students’ progress.
- Supervise student staff and assist with program promotion via social media and events.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in areas of increased responsibility in higher education student advising, engagement, teaching, or related areas.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and collaborate with students, staff, faculty and external stakeholders.
- Ability and desire to foster a supportive and motivating environment that empowers students to reach their goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- Experience organizing workshops, seminars, or academic support services aimed at student development and success.
- Experience in executing outreach campaigns or organizing recruitment events, including the use of social media and other platforms.
- A strong desire for continuous learning and the ability to proactively seek out new knowledge and insights.
- Experience working with TRIO-eligible students from diverse backgrounds, especially regarding the opportunities and barriers they navigate in higher education.
- Familiarity with federal regulations related to grant-funded programs, higher education compliance, and student confidentiality.

Salary
The salary for this position ranges from $38,000-40,000 annually commensurate with qualifications and experience.
