Qualifications:

• Appropriate Licensure/Certificate or willingness to train for the credentials.
• Pre-employment drug testing.
• Successful BCII & FBI background checks.

Salary Schedule – 2024-2025 School Year (rates will increase next year):

• Step 0 - $18.65 per hour
• Step 1 - $18.95 per hour
• Step 2 - $19.20 per hour
• Step 3 - $19.45 per hour
• Step 4 - $20.11 per hour
• Step 5 - $20.45 per hour

The Mathews Local School District will pay for new driver training provided that the candidate is able to meet the following conditions:

• A clean driving record
• Passes a pre-employment drug screening
• Has a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
• Meets or exceeds the requirements of the physical examination
• Passes all State mandated testing for bus driver certification
• Successful screening interview with the Superintendent and Transportation Supervisor
• Can display a work history that displays dependability, honesty, and a strong work ethic.

Driver training includes 15 classroom hours and up-to 30 hours of training with the On Board Instructor in the bus, 2 hours for CDL license testing. In exchange for the district's investment, a commitment of working for the district for a minimum of one school year is expected.

***** The District will pay wages for the training after the completion of a month of successful service to the district up to 47 hours.
This is a full 5-hour route. The District will also add additional hours in another classification, such as custodial, food service, or educational aide (requires license) for those in need of 8 hours and additional benefits.
Additional field trips and athletic trips are offered at a non-reduced rate. Drivers exceeding 40 hours will receive time and a half rate.
Tremendous opportunities for additional hours. Summer work opportunities in Custodial, at the Custodial pay-rate are available.
