Position:
The head coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, and an increasingly competitive program built on the foundation of education-based athletics. The applicant must understand the role that interscholastic athletics play in the total school program and the impact on the social, emotional and intellectual development of the student. The head coach will be expected to exemplify high moral character, behavior, and leadership, adhering to strong ethical and integrity standards. The head coach will abide by and teach the rules of the game in spirit and letter, set a good example for players and spectators to follow, teach/display good sportsmanship, treat players, opponents and officials with dignity and respect, instill good habits and training rules, and maintain the highest level of responsibility and behavior that is expected of all Howland Local School District employees.

Qualifications/Attributes:
- Must possess integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
- Must be a role model who utilizes positive and respectful coaching strategies.
- Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism.
- Previous head coaching experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate emphasis on academic and athletic excellence of all student athletes.
- Must have outstanding communication skills with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and teachers, and administration.
- Must have willingness to commit to the development of the program both in and out of the season. Must be a teacher of the sport.
- Must demonstrate a willingness to work with the administration, activities director, teachers/staff, parents/families, other coaches/programs, and the board approved booster group.
- Must hold a valid State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit and all requirements that make that permit valid.
- Successful BCI/FBI background check and drug test
- Per negotiated agreement.
