SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, performs maintenance and repair duties to maintain premises of county buildings in a clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned:
FACILITY IMPROVEMENT DUTIES:
- Maintains building, performing skilled maintenance and repair work on plumbing, water issues, electrical, control wiring, voice and data systems per specifications and standards of the City of Warren and Ohio Basic Building codes.
- Repair and install doors, locks, hydraulics, light fixtures, receptacles, switches, plumbing fixtures and hot water tanks.
- Also handles routine building repairs including roofing, spouting, painting, and carpentry. Assembles and repairs furniture and equipment. On call 24-hours.
- Moves and rearranges office equipment and furniture, moves office supplies, operates truck to move trash and supplies to other county facilities.
- At times, operates tractor, power mowers, power snow blowers, salt spreaders.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 4 year’s work experience in maintenance or repair area, or equivalent. Trade certification in plumbing is desirable, but not required, as plumbing is a major work assignment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, in the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
License and/or certification by the city and/or county. Trade certification in plumbing is desirable, but not required, as plumbing is a major work assignment in the County Jail. A valid Ohio Driver's license is a must.
