What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deduction Analyst position at Trumbull Industries?
SUMMARY
Primary responsibilities of this role include understanding all programs on major accounts and working closely with Home Centers and ecommerce to stay current on any changes. Validate all deductions and short payments made by all customers and charge back all invalid claims to the customer and follow up until repaid or resolved. Work with internal departments to solve for root cause of major deduction issues.
- Work with Credit Manager and cash application to update the coding system of deductions as needed.
- Run AR report daily to extract all open deductions by customer.
- Acquire detail of all new claims on deduction report and confirm initial status code given.
- Search for corresponding credit and make necessary adjustment.
- Research the validity of each claim.
- Chargeback invalid claims with backup to the customer to be repaid.
- Request internal credit for valid claims that have not been credited.
- Review issues requiring credit and determine if the cause could be identified and fixed or if the process can be improved so that the proper credit is already issued.
- Communicate recurring deduction issues to Sales with supporting data.
- Track all agreed upon customer allowances, freight, damage, etc.
- Validate deduction amounts against sales reporting.
- Research and collect all unpaid invoices for major ecommerce retailers.
- Work to reconcile Avalara tax exempt documentation to Trumbull’s ERP system.
- Manage certificate imaging and tracking in Avalara.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma. Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Excel
Solid Math and logic skills
Organizational skills
