Server
Summary: Provides food and beverage service in a team-oriented, high volume, fast paced environment. Greets and establishes a rapport with members/guests by delivering an exceptional dining experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs related set-up tasks.
- Attends daily pre-shift meeting and makes note of specials &/or menu changes.
- Provides immediate attention to guests upon seating.
- Guides members and guests through menus, while demonstrating thorough knowledge of the food, beverages and ingredients.
- Takes accurate orders and enters details into the JONAS POS system.
- Serves all courses of meal presentations by delivering outstanding service, in a friendly, attentive manner that exceeds the members and guests’ expectations.
- Pours and refills wine, coffee, water and/or other beverages served with and after the meal.
- Garnishes and decorates dishes prior to serving.
- Coordinates timing of courses throughout the dining experience.
- Observes guests to anticipate needs and to respond to any additional requests.
- Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course.
- Polishes glasses and silverware.
- Assists in closing functions by performing various tasks such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, and other side work.
- Takes directives from Captains and Management.
- Adheres to all Club food and beverage handling safety and sanitation policies and procedural training.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience in fine dining service and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and knowledge of Point of Sale systems.
