Landscape Crew Member/ CDL Driver Position

TruNorth Landscaping, located in Traverse City, Michigan, is seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to join our landscaping construction and installation crew as a hybrid Landscape Construction Crew Member and CDL Driver/heavy equipment operator. The hybrid position's responsibilities include assisting the construction of outdoor landscapes and spaces (softscape and hardcape), regular communication with project foreman to ensure understanding of project, ensure crew members observe safety protocol, and be able to assist with CDL deliveries along with operating heavy machinery. The ideal candidate must effectively and efficiently assist each project through to completion and be willing to help both in the field along with their driving duties.

Overview

The typical landscaping season in Northern Michigan begins in early to mid-April through first snow fall, which is typically early to mid-November.

Job duties for this position are defined below. Year-round employment is available for those interested in working on the snow maintenance team during the winter season.

Position Requirements:

· Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

· At least 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator.

· Ability to show a working knowledge of tools/equipment/practices, etc.

· Strong mechanical aptitude.

· Effective communication skills, both written and oral.

· Effective presentation of information.

· Ability to respond and problem-solve with coworkers and customers.

· Great attitude, character, integrity, and work ethic.

· Careful attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong customer orientation and ability to effectively adapt and respond.

· Willingness to learn new skills and abilities the “TruNorth” way.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Report daily to the Landscape Project Manager to obtain the scheduled material and equipment deliveries.

· Fulfill scheduled deliveries in a safe and timely manner.

· Operate equipment as scheduled.

· Demonstrate commitment to excellence.

· Proactively support the safety and health of all crew members on each job site.

· Taking direction and completing assigned tasks at the jobsite, including coordinating work flow, hands on work, and operating a variety of equipment and machinery.

· Effective communication with and management of crew members and subcontractors.

· Regular communication with project foreman to ensure proper understanding of the design and client needs/wants.

· Ensuring proper adherence to safety and health regulations by all members of the crew at all times.

· Completing landscape installation and construction projects in accordance with job plans, design, and client contracts.

· Completing routine inventory checks and equipment inspections.

· Represent TruNorth Landscaping in a positive and professional manner and operate with the highest level of integrity.

Physical Requirements:

· This position involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and operating machinery. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Ability to safely lift 50lbs or more.

· Ability to stand, bend, perform repetitive motions, and walk for extended periods of time up to and including entire shift.

· Able to work 50 hours per week during the season

· Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Regular, Full-time position (full year positions include Snow Removal in winter months)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
