Job Summary

The primary role of the Electronics Repair Technician is the diagnosis and repair of parts and products created by Trust Automation. From non-conforming components and assemblies flagged during in-house manufacturing, to RMA returns from customers and end users, the Electronics Repair Technician is responsible for timely and accurately diagnosing failures, determining repair pathways, and returning failed products to current or upgraded configurations that function per original requirements. Performing work as assigned by the RMA Supervisor, the Electronics Repair Technician fulfills these requirements through written and verbal communications, using the tools required, within the processes that define the repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Your repair methodology will prioritize the safety of the technician and product
  • Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits
  • Solder/de-solder surface mount and through-hole PCBAs
  • Simulate (when appropriate) a part/assembly's reported failure, then troubleshoot the product using assembly-to-component approaches
  • Generate material requirements for troubleshooting and repair using the ERP to allow accurate and real-time inventory management
  • Perform and/or coordinate with other technicians the disassembly and reassembly of returned product
  • Communicate repair status and issues to the RMA Supervisor as well as multiple departments along the repair process flow
  • Determine the root cause of failure and provide detailed, concise reports
  • Work with engineering personnel for failure assessment and validation pathways
  • Validate the repair through functional testing using production test processes and equipment
  • Record work performed, repair status, and transactions in ERP
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of products and process
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Desired AA or greater in Electronics or related technical field
  • 4 years of experience with mechanical and/or electronics repairs
  • Product return (RMA) experience
  • Soldering experience, preferably under J-std guidelines
  • Skilled with hand tools and electronic test equipment (includes oscilloscope, meters, function generators, power supplies)
  • Competency in reading and interpretation of electronics schematics, assembly documentation, engineering drawings, etc.
  • Familiarity with SSH, Telnet, and Serial communication interfaces
  • Exposure to on-board programming of PAL and microcontroller type devices
  • Familiarity with RS-232/485/422, USB, and Ethernet communications standards
  • Working knowledge of ERP
  • Exhibit proactive attitude towards upholding quality standards, with a drive for continuous improvement and a dedication to providing customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials.
  • Sitting or standing for an extended period of time.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Any items that weigh more than 50 pounds will require two or more people or a lifting device to move.
  • Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.

Pay/Salary Information

Pay scale for this position depending on experience- $28.19- $34.00 Hourly

Expected hours: 40 per week
