Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs, including those with autism, dementia, and other memory care challenges. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting independence and ensuring their rights are respected.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's unique needs.
- Follow all documentation guidelines for services provided to individuals, and any other assistance provided as outlined by County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DODD)
- Accompany clients to scheduled appointments and event, providing transportation to and from activities as needed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a positive environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by monitoring their health and behavior.
- Advocate for resident rights and dignity in all aspects of care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and any changes in resident status.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care is delivered.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism or in memory care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices, including assisted living, hospice care, and dementia care.
- Ability to prepare nutritious meals while considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Understanding of resident rights and a commitment to advocating for them.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet the needs of residents.
Qualifications:
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Must obtain 2 year Driving Abstract.
- Able to pass a fingerprint background check.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Physical ability to lift, lower, and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess the ability to express patience in difficult situations
License/Certification:

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Caregiver experience: 1 year (Preferred)
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
