Description
Thayer Academy is seeking an experienced, passionate, and team-oriented full-time teacher of the arts and leader in arts technology. This position reports to the Middle School Director.
What You’ll Do: |
- Teach 2- 8th grade Arts electives each trimester (possibilities include Fall- Graphic Design, photography, architecture, fashion design, Winter- Digital Music, Spring Movie Making, or Theatrical Design)
- Run Sound and AV for our performance and gathering spaces
- Enable students to utilize the audio lab for podcasts, and sound recording
- Teach an introduction to movie-making elective
- Teach skills-based workshops during Intersession
- Support and monitor the use of the Collaborative Design Lab, Media Lab, and Audio Lab as able
- Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members
- Engage in ongoing professional development
Qualifications
Who we’re looking for: |
- A bachelor’s degree required, Masters (or higher) preferred in Education or Arts, Technology or a related field
- Experience using movie-making/editing software such as Premier Pro/plus or iMovie
- 3 years of teaching experience at the Middle School or Secondary School level preferred
- Maker Space or Design Lab knowledge and experience
- Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community
- High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting
- Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and families
