POSITION SUMMARY
We are a great team, passionate about caring for the salt of the earth, our seniors! We are seeking a part-time to full time (20-40-ish hours per week) chef who is also passionate, fun, loves to put out fantastic food and have a good time doing it. We are seeking someone to join our team on a temporary (March-April) basis that may turn into a permanent position after.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Prepares and serves meals for 30-35, including preparing raw food and delivering delicious and satisfying meals to our residents and team.
- Maintains sanitation standards required by licenses and regulations. Cleans work areas, utensils, and equipment with the assistance of other team members.
- Ensures that all inventories are rotated according to dates and is fresh when served. Notifies Food Service Director when supplies are needed.
- Stores food and checks supplies upon delivery in absence of the Food Service Director or other team members.
- Encourages feedback from resident, guests, and staff to seek ways of improving food quality and service.
- Supports other departments as part of the team (such as providing appetizers for various events and resident Happy Hours) and continually strives to improve overall resident satisfaction

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Food Service Director
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience and/or knowledge of meal preparation for groups of 30 or more preferred, but we will train the right person with ambition, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn and grow. Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner for residents.
- Must enjoy working with elderly seniors, their families, friends and other team members.
- Must have a positive attitude and treat all residents with dignity and respect, and desire to light up their world with wonderful meals which many times is the highlight of their days.
EQUIPMENT USED
The following equipment is used, including, but not limited to, electric slicer, mixer, oven, stove, microwave, grill, dishwasher, fryer, toaster, coffeemaker, and various kitchen utensils and appliances, including knives. May use standard office equipment as needed.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; stand for extended periods time, carry, reach, bend, finger, grasp and feel.
- The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (hot & cold) and be exposed to chemicals.
- Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities. To perform this job successfully, incumbent will possess the mental abilities and aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
