POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Quality Engineer supports line managers in product and process quality planning. This position helps improve processes that affect product quality, devises product quality audit methods, special quality studies, failure investigations and feedback of quality information to management. This position will be responsible for development and improvement of specific office and manufacturing processes as determined by business priorities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts daily studies and investigations related to problem solving and problem prevention. Is an expert in RCA and FMEA.
- Executes analysis of operational failures in order to establish basic causes of defect and implement preventive actions
- Reports to management on the level of quality and cost-related nature of quality problems at various stages of corporate processes
- Participates in design and quality requirement reviews
- Conducts training programs on general product knowledge and inspection techniques. Assures on-going ISO 9001 registration requirements are met
- Makes decisions’ defining, modifying or restricting processes
- Designs product and process quality audit tools
- Conducts cost of quality analyses
- Advises on the audit/inspection function
- Evaluates processes for improvement and subsequent controls to minimize inspection activities
- Interface with customers to address problems and evaluate the Company’s performance
- Leads employees and teams in process development and improvement
Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
- Two to five years of experience in a production environment.
- Progressively responsible experience in a relevant engineered-product environment
- Related background in continuous improvement activities including SPC techniques
- Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques

- Ability to adhere to all regulatory and company policies, procedures, work instructions including but not limited to: Truvant policies, customer specific policies, ISO, GMP’s, USDA, regulatory food safety and food defense
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read documents, printouts, computer screens and other communication
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers
- Must be able to reach, touch, grasp
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to climb, stoop/kneel, lift, pull and push
- Must be able to conduct yourself in a safe manner to avoid accidents while on the production floor
- Must be able to work in various environments based on building location and products.
- Level of Physical Requirements: Sedentary to medium work level; lifting and positioning weight loads up to 40 pounds
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 0-25% - Travel may be required to support business needs
