Dock Lead

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse loading dock area. This role ensures the efficient, accurate, and safe loading of shipments.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and manage a team of dock workers, providing direction and support.
• Ensure team members are following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
• Conduct training sessions for new hires and ongoing training for current staff.
• Oversee the loading of trucks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Inspect and verify the condition of product to be shipped.
• Ensure proper use of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
• Report discrepancies, damages, and shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of all shipments.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and report any hazards or concerns.
• Communicate effectively with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist in developing and implementing operational improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

• Must be 18 or older
• Ability to lift up to 175lbs
• Must be a team player and work well under minimum supervision
• Knowledge of safe work practices
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment in all types of weather
• Ability to work required shift as defined
• Available to work overtime as needed
• Ability to work within tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
• Prior warehouse or distribution center experience
• Prior experience or certification on power equipment (forklift, pallet jack, reach truck)

PREFERRED

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous supervisory or management experience
• Expertise in one or more functional areas within the warehouse
