General Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for the monitoring, testing and documenting of all products running on the manufacturing floor and for customer specifications regarding finished product. Specific duties of a Quality Assurance Technician is to minutely observe the units of goods produced for visible defects, performing various tests on the samples drawn and documenting findings. Assisting in the implementation of quality control programs, and performing other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager. The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all Quality Assurance records and documents generated during the completion of said responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
40% of Time – Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring
* Conduct and document pre-operational inspections at the start of each shift.
* Verify sanitation effectiveness using ATP swabs, allergen test kits.
* Collect product samples as required.
* Ensure production line/s are accurately identifying ingredient lot numbers to support traceability and recall procedures.
* Test and calibrate production scales to ensure accuracy.
* Perform and document testing of metal detection equipment.
* Conduct and monitor testing (COA) and inspection (visual) of incoming materials and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
* Develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
* Perform monthly facility audit and quarterly brittle plastic audit.
* Provide support during on-site audits conducted by external auditors or certifying bodies.
30% of Time – Production Support and Inventory Accuracy
* Carry out weight and portion control procedures as required.
* Verify the accuracy of batching and blending sheets.
* Facilitate the proper return of raw materials to inventory and ensure accurate entry into Fishbowl (inventory management system).
* Collaborate on improving the staging process for batching to optimize timelines and efficiency.
10% of Time – Cross-Site Support and Administrative Duties
* Provide support at Building 140 as needed.
* Maintain accurate recordkeeping and organized filing systems.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management.
Basic Qualifications
* Ability to speak, read and write English.
* Good basic Math skills.
* Good computer skills. Excel and PowerPoint a plus.
* Ability to use simple inspection tools such as, but not limited to scales, thermometers, and test standards.
* Micrometers and microbial swabbing equipment.
* Must be able to communicate and work well with fellow employees.
* Certifications in HACCP, GMP’s or any GFSI benchmarked programs a plus
* Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience
* Product or industry-specific experience
* Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA
* 1 year manufacturing experience
