POSITION SUMMARY:
The Retail Clerk shall be responsible for selling the public merchandise in the store primarily consumer goods of small ticket amounts like food, novelties, cigarettes and gas. The incumbents will operate the Store/Gas station in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures and objectives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Greets customers as they enter the location.
- Sets up displays an counters and shelves
- Assists customers with information about merchandise, questions or price discrepancies.
- Prices merchandise with labels, tags, etc.
- Stocks shelves with merchandise and keep merchandise on shelf in an orderly manner.
- Rings up sales, receives payments, and bags merchandise for customers.
- Process refunds, returns and exchanges.
- Accepts credits/debit cards from customers by following credit card policy.
- Ensures accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift, and sales at the end of shift.
- Keep the Convenience Store clean inside and out.
- May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED/equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Successful completion of on-the-job training
SKILLS:
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to work with diversified customers
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate available equipment such as:
- Cash registers
- Calculators
- Scanners
- Knowledgeable about Company’s products and services
- Knowledgeable about Customer related policies
- Knowledge of credit/debit card transaction policies
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Cash Registers, Electronic Scanners and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with customers
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to concentrate in very fast-paced environment and exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and taking effective action.
- Prolonged periods standing and working on cash register or related equipment
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
- May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to work independently and under customer demand
