Geotechnical Driller's Helper

TSi Geotechnical, a leading geotechnical engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Driller's Assistant to join our team in Kansas City, MO. This role involves working on projects throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois, assisting in geotechnical site investigations.

Job Summary

The Driller's Assistant supports the Driller in performing soil and rock drilling for geotechnical investigations and environmental monitoring well installations. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position that requires working in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Driller in soil drilling and rock coring operations.
• Lift and handle drill steel and materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
• Smoothly and efficiently connect/disconnect drill pipe sections.
• Help obtain drilling core samples and assist with monitoring well installation.
• Dig and clean mud pits and drains.
• Operate pumps and other equipment related to drilling operations.
• Assist in maintenance and repairs of drill rigs and equipment.
• Perform duties at multiple job sites.
• Load and unload trucks and transport materials.
• Help set up and relocate drilling rigs between sites.
• Maintain and clean equipment regularly.
• Follow all safety protocols and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience in drilling or construction preferred but not required.
• Mechanical skills are a plus.
• Class A or B CDL license is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time (overnight stays may be required).
• Reliable transportation to the office or job sites (mileage reimbursement provided for personal vehicle use).
• Must pass a background check.
