Technical Writer/Designer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a high-performing technical writer/designer to join a team of designers in creating touch screens, video walls, and protective overlay designs. This is a high-paced design team. The candidate should have experience in design for manufacturing and design for assembly of mechanical structures fabricated from sheet metal.

This is a full-time on-site position.

You will report to the New Design Manager

Technical Writing Responsibilities:

• Responsible for creating Assembly instructions for the production team
• Responsible for creating installation guides for customers and end users
• Ensure that assembly instructions and installation guides are filed in accordance with company procedures
• Liaises with other TSI Touch departments to ensure that the required information is available when needed and requests are dealt with in a timely manner
• Responsible for reporting the progress of all assigned tasks to the New Design Manager

Design Responsibilities:

• The mechanical design of touch screen, video wall, and display protective systems in accordance with TSI Touch processes relating to the management of designs
• Carry out detailed mechanical design work including 3D modeling and 2D drawings complete with a bill of materials to allow manufacture or purchase
• Ensures the mechanical design output fits with all other aspects of the design
• Responsible for the specification compliance of designs
• Keeps up to date with the latest manufacturing techniques and drawing standards
• Responsible for carrying out design change requests in a timely manner
• Responsible for mechanical part selection taking into consideration obsolescence, availability, and cost
• Ensures design files and information are kept up to date, and stored in accordance with company procedures
• Highlights all mechanical and technical risks to the New Design Manager
• Works closely with operations, manufacturing, and production to ensure products are designed for manufacturing
• Responsible for reporting the progress of all assigned tasks to the New Design Manager

Qualifications:

Experience and Education Required/Desired:

• Associate’s degree or higher level of education in the relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in design for fabrication and assembly of mechanical products
• Experience with mechanical design of products made from sheet metal

Skills Required

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer suite of programs
• Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
• Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Possess good oral and written communication skills
• Possess good time management skills, and high work ethic
• Be a positive contributor to team participation
