Job Summary
The Memory Care Director (MCD) will be passionate, dedicated, and an experienced professional. The MCD will be a qualified professional who can plan, implement, and evaluate the health and quality of life initiatives in the Memory Care Community. This individual will be primarily responsible for the assessment, admission, care, and engagement of our Memory Care residents. The MCD will oversee the care team for Memory Care and will be fully integrated into the leadership activities of the community.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Overall planning, organizing, developing and directing memory care services and team in accordance with current existing federal, state and local standards, as well as in accordance with the established policies and procedures at the Community, to maximize fulfilling the care-giving needs of residents who reside at the Community.
2. Promotes a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents, team members, families and guests.
3. Lead a team to assist in the welcome and orientation of new residents. Ensures all admission documents are complete, accurate and received within appropriate time frames.
4. Participates and represents the Memory Care Community during daily meetings.
5. Ensures effective communication occurs between wellness and memory care team members assigned to different shifts.
6. Expands personal development, skills and knowledge of activity programs as it relates to seniors with moderate to severe memory impairments in a long-term care setting
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Hold an active license as a LPN or RN
- Have 5 or more years of Assisted Living community experience, with progressive supervisory experience
- Have 2 or more years of direct engagement and interaction with Memory Care residents
- The MCD must complete the NIDE Dementia Caregiver training and certification.
- Hold or obtain certification to complete the Uniform Assessment Instrument and develop Individual Service Plans for residents
- Demonstrate good communication skills, to be able to work with residents, families, physicians, and team members
- Show passion and dedication to the wellbeing and potential of each resident
- It is required that the Memory Care Director holds a current First Aid and CPR certification.
