Job Description:
Our client is currently seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join a Discovery Biology research team at a Cambridge, MA facility. The successful candidate will play an integral role in advancing the discovery pipeline by developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting cellular assays to characterize and propel novel molecules of interest. Additionally, this role involves managing the departmental cell collection.
We are looking for someone with 3-5 years of hands-on experience in preclinical laboratory research. The ideal candidate will excel in a collaborative environment and contribute as a valuable member of our dynamic drug discovery team. Key qualities we seek include exceptional organizational skills, a proven history of high productivity, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- BS/MS degree in Biology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture, including aseptic technique, culture optimization, cell counting, cryopreservation, and validation methods.
- Proficient in experimental design, data analysis, and a broad range of biology techniques such as in vitro cell assay development, plate-based assays, Western blotting, protein quantification, ELISA, MSD, transfections, lentiviral transductions, siRNA/shRNA/CRISPR, qPCR, and viability assays.
- Experience managing or supporting a cell line collection, including data management using inventory systems like Mosaic and Benchling.
- Excellent time management, planning, prioritization, and organizational skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to follow-through.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience with electronic notebooks is preferred; proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
- Self-driven, adaptable, eager to learn, and brings a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support Oncology drug discovery programs by working both independently and in a collaborative setting to advance research and manage the departmental cell collection.
- Develop and implement mechanistic in vitro assays to evaluate the mechanisms of action of novel compounds.
- Oversee the departmental cell collection, including inventory management, cell line registration, collection, distribution, and validation.
- Keep detailed, organized records of experimental protocols and results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive research initiatives forward.
- Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data in team meetings.
