Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced tax professional for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a prominent payroll and human capital management solutions provider. This role serves as the next step for seasoned tax consultants, providing second-tier resolution and oversight. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in tax matters, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts. While a CPA is preferred, it is not required. Candidates can be based in either Maitland, FL, or Tempe, AZ.
Compensation:
- $45–$55 per hour (commensurate with qualifications, with CPAs positioned toward the higher end of the range).
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze federal tax returns, including but not limited to Schedule Rs.
- Conduct second-level resolution for variances identified through tax research.
- Perform audit reviews of check reconciliation processes and approve transactions for finance.
- Collaborate closely with internal finance and accounting teams to support tax research and provide updates.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of tax strategies.
- Provide guidance to accounting, legal, and finance teams on tax matters impacting account management.
- Evaluate tax-related concerns and recommend business decisions by involving appropriate resources.
- Act as an escalation point for the Compliance Solution Team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience.
- CPA certification preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in explaining and resolving complex tax challenges.
- Strong technical tax expertise with hands-on experience.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
