Job DescriptionThe Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep and beautification of the college campus grounds. This role ensures that all outdoor areas are safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Groundskeeper will have a commitment to maintaining a welcoming environment.Essential Functions:
Core Values: Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
Landscape and Maintenance: Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and other landscaped areas.
Safety and Compliance: Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools in a safe manner.
Building Access: Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
Equipment Management: Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Vehicle Operation: Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to their supervisor.
Physical Exertion: Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years combined training in apprenticeship and experience in trade.
Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.
Working Conditions:
Exertion: Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
Exposure: Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
Risk:Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
