Job Overview: As a Gas Distribution Heavy Equipment Operator at TSU One, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment in the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas distribution systems. Your experience with Atmos Energy and/or One Gas (ONG) systems will play a key role in ensuring that gas distribution operations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and trenchers, for the installation, repair, and maintenance of gas distribution lines and related infrastructure.
- Work closely with gas distribution crews to support pipeline construction, maintenance, and repair projects, ensuring proper alignment with plans and safety procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others on the job site.
- Ensure that all heavy equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and in good working condition.
- Assist in preparing work sites, including the setup of equipment, clearing of obstacles, and proper placement of machinery.
- Collaborate with foremen and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment and gas distribution systems as they arise.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations related to gas distribution and heavy equipment operation.
- Keep accurate records of equipment use, work completed, and any issues encountered during the job.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior operators and field crew members as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and quality standards while performing daily tasks.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator in the gas distribution or utility industry, with specific experience in Atmos Energy and/or One Gas (ONG) systems.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, trenchers, and skid steers.
- Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems and pipeline construction processes.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards, including OSHA regulations, and the ability to work safely in potentially hazardous environments.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Atmos Energy and/or One Gas (ONG) systems.
- Certification or training in heavy equipment operation
- First aid and CPR certification.
