Role Overview and Responsibilities
This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Value Stream Leaders deliver results by aligning goals, communicating policies and operating status, developing team members, and providing the resources that team members need to perform and improve their work. Value Stream Leaders lead their teams in achieving safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, continuous improvement, and employee engagement goals.
Essential Functions
- Creates a high-performance team environment focused on TT’s success and emphasizes proactive communication, approachability, trust, and respect for each individual. Lives and promotes the Torotel core values.
- Delivers on daily, monthly, and quarterly performance metrics including safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, continuous improvement and employee engagement. Insures that metrics are relevant to the team and targets for each metric are set. Leads an effective Tier 2 meeting that delivers daily improvement.
- Provides guidance to Production Leads on effective execution of the daily production schedule to meet customer needs. Collaborates with Production Planner to develop production schedule. Follows production schedule.
- Leads at least one kaizen / quarter including thoroughly preparing for the event, facilitating the event, following up on open items, and sustaining improvements over time. This is in addition to daily problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Uses root cause problem solving tools, such as 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Process Flow Charts, Pareto Charts, PDCA, to determine the root causes of problems and generate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of daily misses.
- Looks for opportunities to effectively utilize visual management and implements them. Utilizes and regularly updates leader standard work. Establishes 5S and audits for compliance against the standard.
- Develops the production leads through on-going coaching, providing regular performance feedback and performance evaluations, creating development plans, conducting interviews, and managing staffing. Creates and executes a plan to effectively utilize and / or build skills in team members when excess capacity is available.
- Coaches members on issues. Provides conflict resolution and productive team management.
- Promotes safety goals and awareness with team members, performs accident investigations, and conducts required safety training. Leads by example.
- Identifies training needs. Works with Production Leads to develop TWI job breakdowns and training plans. Audits team members for compliance with the “one best way”.
- Works within ERP system (Epicor) to plan and execute work. Also analyzes data from ERP and creates reports for each cell in their value stream.
- Other duties as required and assigned.

- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
- Knowledge of working requirements of AS9100 quality standard a plus.
- Two to three years related to experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Meets vision requirements specified by quality management system.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident status is required.
