Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance and repair operations for our fleet of vehicles and trailers. You will lead a team of mechanics and staff to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our fleet. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in vehicle maintenance, and a commitment to ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Develop and implement strategic plans for fleet maintenance operations to optimize vehicle performance, minimize downtime, and reduce operating costs.
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of mechanics and staff to ensure high performance, productivity, and adherence to safety standards.
Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure timely servicing and inspections of all vehicles in the fleet. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure parts and materials as needed.
Oversee maintenance software and recordkeeping.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to mechanics and staff in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in various types of vehicles, including trucks and trailers.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies related to fleet maintenance, safety, and environmental protection. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.
Manage the fleet maintenance budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoring costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of fleet maintenance operations. Generate regular reports and analysis to track performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and logistics, to optimize fleet utilization, routing, and scheduling. Recommend strategies for fleet expansion, replacement, or retirement based on lifecycle analysis and cost-benefit considerations.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, reliability, and efficiency of fleet maintenance processes and procedures. Encourage innovation and best practices within the maintenance team.

Skills and Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Automative Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field

Proven experience (7 years) in fleet maintenance management, or related roles, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities

In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic techniques.

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Physical Requirements :

Work is performed while sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods of time.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing

Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time

Normal office environment and / or maintenance shop environment

Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering shop floor equipment to access, inspect, or oversee shop work

Requires occasional travel outside service area

Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, gloves, etc.)

May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
