We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-minded Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a dynamic team at a large industrial plant in Medley, Florida. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical and automation systems, while also helping to minimize maintenance and repair costs.
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will work closely with the Electrical Maintenance Manager to support critical operations, improve system performance, and implement preventive maintenance programs. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain strict adherence to all safety regulations, rules, and company policies.
- Provide engineering support to the electrical maintenance team.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment and systems.
- Integrate maintenance tasks for new installations into existing plans.
- Design and implement upgrades or enhancements to control system architecture.
- Conduct evaluations of chronic failures and assist in implementing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) findings.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts for high-reliability operation.
- Work with complex industrial systems, including medium and low voltage VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, plant control systems, and instrumentation.
- Handle power system components, including breakers, relays, arrestors, and transformers.
- Develop and execute infrastructure upgrades for power distribution, automation, and motor control systems.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of CAPEX projects related to electrical and automation improvements.
- Collaborate with management to articulate ideas and address operational challenges.
- Support reporting, audits, and future planning under the direction of the Electrical Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of technical or engineering experience in a heavy industry.
- Practical knowledge of computer systems, networking, and software development/programming (e.g., DOMO, AutoCAD).
- Understanding of power and industrial electronics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively.
- Ability to work extended hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends, as needed.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong focus on safety.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in preventive maintenance program development.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and motor control systems.
- Previous exposure to CAPEX project implementation.
