Job Overview:
We're currently seeking a highly skilled Roadway Project Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy in Tampa, FL. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects across the state. The ideal candidate is passionate about transportation design, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to grow within a forward-thinking firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop roadway and Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCP) for expressways, arterial roads, and local streets in compliance with DOT and local standards.
- Create and manage 3D corridor models using GEOPAK and/or Open Roads software.
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure seamless integration throughout project lifecycles.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, designers, and technicians; ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, and project documentation.
- Review internal and external contract plans for compliance with design standards.
- Potentially act as Engineer-of-Record on mid-size projects.
- Represent engineering design in internal and external stakeholder meetings.
- Support proposal development, resume updates, and marketing efforts.
- Proactively manage time reporting and team development activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Certification: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in roadway design and transportation engineering
- Strong proficiency in roadway modeling software such as GEOPAK and Open Roads
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineering teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
