The Medical Economics Senior Analyst plays a key role in supporting Senior Management by analyzing and communicating the financial impact of healthcare practices across multiple revenue streams. This role collaborates with Analytics, Reporting, and Budget teams to develop insightful reporting and data-driven recommendations to enhance operational stability within healthcare organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and present financial and operational reports, including monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting packages.
- Analyze business lines, including Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Private, Commercial Exchange, and Self-Pay, across various reimbursement models.
- Interpret and report on government healthcare reimbursement structures (Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, and Managed Exchange - ACA).
- Perform rate/volume analyses to forecast financial stability and profitability of healthcare practices.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify cost savings and revenue opportunities at both practice and enterprise levels.
- Create financial models to evaluate contract profitability, product performance, capacity, and other critical business indicators.
- Consolidate financial results, adjusted forecasts, and performance indicators for strategic decision-making.
- Leverage system and reporting tools to prepare meaningful financial and operational analyses.
- Provide financial and analytical support to Senior Management for business decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of financial or accounting experience within a healthcare setting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex data analysis and financial modeling.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data; SQL experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, cash flow management, and financial reporting systems.
- Familiarity with healthcare payor financial reporting, including Healthcare Service Fund Accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a multi-payor healthcare environment.
- Background in financial modeling for contract profitability and revenue cycle management.
- Familiarity with various healthcare reimbursement models (Fee-for-Service, Capitated, Shared Risk/Savings).
- Prior experience in decision support roles within a healthcare organization.
