Survey Field Crew Chief - Nashville or Clarksville, TN
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Survey Field Crew Chief to join our team. The Survey Field Crew Chief will oversee and coordinate survey activities in the field, ensuring accurate data collection, effective team leadership, and safe practices. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong technical knowledge of surveying methods and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a survey crew on a variety of projects.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including robotic total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.
- Collect, process, and ensure the accuracy of survey data for boundary, topographic, construction, and other surveying projects.
- Review field notes and ensure data integrity and completeness before submitting reports.
- Coordinate daily field activities.
- Communicate with project managers regarding project status, field conditions, and deliverables.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment and field conditions.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies at all times in the field.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying or related field, with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
- Proficient with survey instruments, including robotic total stations, GPS Units, and related software.
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with contractors and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Trimble S5 Robotic Total Stations and Carlson BRX7 GPS Units.
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and survey data processing software.
- Previous experience in construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
