Center Supervisor - Aloha & Beaverton Swim Centers

Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) seeks a Center Supervisor II who will oversee Aloha & Beaverton Swim Centers. The Center Supervisor II will help us achieve our vision of providing high-quality park and recreation facilities, programs, services, and natural areas that meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve. Center supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center which include supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff.  They will plan, organize, coordinate, integrate, and monitor the operations and activities of center programs.

The typical schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Depending on operational needs, this position may require working early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and/or weekend hours.

  • Responsible for managing center services and directing the work of employees directly and indirectly. Has authority in employment decisions:  hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of employment status.  

  • Oversee the progress and implement the day-to-day activities of employees through motivation and coaching that guides the improvement of employees’ work performance.   

  • Plan, organize, integrate, and oversee recreation program development, implementation, administration, and evaluation; research, identify and develop marketing and publicity plans and strategies for assigned areas; publicity materials for center activities, events, and programs; develop, maintain, and update a variety of financial, statistical, and other center- specific data, reports, and records. 

  • Oversee, carryout and evaluate results of recreation needs assessments; Identify, develop, recommend, and implement center program goals, objectivescurriculum, and activities to meet those needs; research innovative programs and trends and introduce programs to meet community needs.  

  • Supervise and monitor the procurement, distribution, care, use and maintenance of facility, equipment, and supplies.    

  • Assist the department manager with long-range goals in the program area.  

  • Meet, partner, and collaborate with non-profit organizations, school officials, community groups and others to develop, provide and promote recreation programs.  

  • Receive, investigate, and resolve participant, volunteer, staff, citizen, community group or community partner inquiries, concerns, complaints, and problems. 

  • Plan, coordinate, integrate and monitor the operations and activities of assigned center programs; Implement and monitor the communication and enforcement of applicable district and site-specific policies, practices, procedures, and rules related to site operations and use, including those related to safety, security, and rental usage; monitor facility and equipment upkeep; Initiate prompt repair or preventative maintenance and recommend capital improvement projects.  

  • Manage department budget preparation and administration. 

  • Represent the district in various community and professional meetings and with committees or organizations.  

  • Make public presentations to community, professional or academic organizations.  

  • Research, develop and submit funding and grant proposals and organize and direct authorized fundraising activities at assigned site(s).  

  • Perform related duties as assigned. 

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 
 
A bachelor’s degree, with a major in parks and recreation or a related field, or equivalent work-life experience and a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in recreational management or a related field, a minimum of three years of experience in management or as an expert individual contributor responsible for leading employees and projects. 
  
The district provides a bilingual pay incentive to staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills. 
 
Licenses and Certifications: 
 

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license and good driving record.  

  • Current first aid and CPR Certification.  

  • Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.

Salary : $115,906 - $127,744
