Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District is looking for dependable, self-directed staff who are committed to delivering the best customer service possible. The Front Desk Shift Lead position provides the first point of customer contact in person and on the phone with a focus on creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all patrons, staff, and volunteers.
Schedule:
We are hiring for two positions, one regularly scheduled for 20-29 hours per week and one substitute variably scheduled for rentals and substitute support. The regularly scheduled position is primarily Thursday and Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday 9:45 am – 3:15 pm exact schedule may vary seasonally.
Part-time variable (PT) employees work an average of less than 20 hours per week and may work less than 1,560 hours on an annual basis. Part-time benefits (PTB) eligible employees work an average of 20 hours per week but, less than 30 hours, on a year-round basis and are eligible to enroll in a benefits package. Pay Rate Range:
$19.31-$21.75 hourly.Pay rate range includes a 3% bilingual pay incentive available for staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills.
This position is responsible for greeting the public, registering patrons for classes, answering district-wide and center-specific questions about classes, activities, and programs, engaging patrons with natural resource questions, and performing clerical duties, as assigned.
Key components of the job include (but are not limited to):
- Independently open, close, and staff the front desk at the facility assigned.
- Greet the public, create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior, and provide information and assistance regarding schedules, program descriptions, and other general district information over the phone and in person.
- Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel, as well as take accurate messages.
- Perform general clerical support, such as generating prescribed reports, assisting the public with program enrollment by signing participants up for programs, receipting money, and performing related registration procedures.

Successful candidates will have knowledge and experience in office management principles and apply this knowledge to work problems while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Candidates will also have one-year general clerical experience, including public contact, and exposure to recreational programming. Bilingual Spanish language skills and an interest in nature, plants, and animals, are preferred.
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and ability to perform the duties as outlined is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as follows:
- One-year general clerical experience, including public contact, and exposure to recreational programming
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
