Minimum Requirements :
Valid Oregon Dental Hygiene license
BLS (Basic Life Support) / CPR certification or willingness to achieve certification shortly after commencing employment
X-ray certification
Local anesthesia certification
A minimum of one year clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred.
Willingness to provide hygiene services using a guided biofilm therapy model, although experience is not required.
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to meet the physical requirements and demands of an active position, including but not limited to : extended durations of standing, walking, stooping, bending and sitting; manual dexterity; good hand-eye coordination; visual abilities (depth perception, ocular focus, close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision), and adequate hearing to perform daily work. Must be able to adjust physically and emotionally to a spontaneous, fast-paced and hectic environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :
Provide comprehensive dental hygiene treatment to patients to promote oral health.
Assess patient oral health conditions, measure and record vital signs, review health history, dental charts, and radiographs to plan appropriate treatments
Document dental history or chief complaints of patients; record and report pertinent observations and treatment rendered
Take diagnostic quality radiographs of patients as prescribed by doctor following practice protocol for standard of care
Utilize intraoral cameras and intraoral scanners to document oral conditions and educate patients
Evaluate the periodontal status of every patient and communicate concerns with the doctor and the patient
Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing for patients as appropriate
Administer local anesthetic
Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
Apply preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
Educate patients on the benefits of ideal periodontal health and offer encouragement to motivate patients to remain or get healthy
Accurately and appropriately record provided treatment and recommended treatment per practice protocol
Promote ideal dentistry by discovering areas of concern and and communicate these to patient and the doctor
Discuss previously diagnosed treatment that remains incomplete with patients and build value for the doctor’s recommendations for care
Communicate with patients at the end of the procedure about the next appointment by informing the patients about what the treatment is, how long it will take and when the doctor wants to see the patient back
Effectively and clearly communicate with team members, including the dentist, dental assistants, and front office staff
Maintain strict compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, ADA)
Manage the cleanliness and order of the ops, following the setup and close per office protocol and following OSHA and infection control guidelines
Perform sterilization of instruments and equipment
Maintains equipment including keeping instruments sharp
Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of innovations and practices in dental hygiene
