What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Manager position at Tucker Freight Lines?
The Shop Manager at Tucker Freight Lines is responsible for managing daily shop and maintenance operations to ensure company needs are met in a timely and efficient manner by leading and coaching the team of Diesel Technicians.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Scheduling work to be performed and assigning jobs to mechanic in TMT
- Supervising all mechanics and ensuring their performance meets company standards
- Use Google Doc for scheduling seated trucks, unseated truck prep, decommission trucks to prioritize shop workflow with expected completion dates/times.
- Assign technician duties for the day
- Order parts for repairs as necessary and receive in parts TMT
- Check in drivers as they arrive for repairs and get detailed information of issue/needs and communicate clearly with mechanic
- Communicate and coordinate with Operations/Safety personnel as required
- Maintaining a clean, professional and safe work environment
- Review TMT shop repairs daily and change to completed status for processing
- Review daily mechanic timecards in TMT and correct as needed
- Other duties as assigned
