We are looking for our next team member, an in-house grant writer for 20 hours per week (may be hybrid). The position reports to the Executive Director and is part of 2.5 person development team. We would like to have you start around May 15 and attend our annual Gala on May 17, but we are flexible.
Job Description:
- Research, develop and write grant proposals to foundations and corporations
- Assemble and submit grant requests, including letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, and presentations
- Meet or exceed our $300,000 foundation budget projection per year of $800,000 total funds raised
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with foundation contacts, program officers, and other members of the funding community
- Prioritize projects to keep multiple requests moving in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines
- Track grants in Monday.com and provide reports as requested
- Perform prospect research on foundations to evaluate prospects
- Work with staff to complete program and financial reports
- Insure compliance and timelines with all grant reporting as required by foundations
- Meet with Exec Director, Principal, teaching and program staff to determine needs each school year
- Participate in development and marketing team meetings as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of successful experience in grant writing for a nonprofit organization
- Track record of clear and compelling grant proposals (submit a sample)
- Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills
- Ability to perform quality work within deadlines without direct supervision
- Ability to interact professionally with other employees, clients, donors, and outside agencies
- Requires a high level of computer literacy including Google suite, Microsoft suite, Donor Perfect preferred
- Ability to work effectively with a team
- Sense of humor
Salary: Hourly equivalent of $29-30,000/year for half time work, plus benefits if minimum 20 hours.
