What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Office Receptionist / Optometric Technician position at Tucson Family Vision Care?
We are seeking a energetic, team oriented individual with excellent customer service skills to fill the position of Medical Front Office Receptionist / Ophthalmic Technician. This is a cross-trained position involving reception, scheduling, working directly with patients, assisting the doctor, as well as billing. Ideal candidates will need to be able to shift gears and multi-task effectively. Previous medical, ophthalmology, or optometry office experience is REQUIRED. Certifications are not required for consideration.
We are hiring for two positions, both PART-TIME and FULL-TIME. Part-time hours would be between 24-32 hours per week. Full-time would be 38-40 hours per week depending on need. Candidates must be available to work 24-39 hours per week during our business hours of 10:00AM to 6:00PM Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 9:30AM to 5:00PM. Availability on most Saturdays is a must.
Candidates MUST have strong, professional, and compassionate communications skills, have a positive attitude, and be a self motivator. We need someone who will be able to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
Our office is the optometry practice located inside Costco Wholesale. We are primarily hiring for the location at 3901 W. Costco Drive, but employees do rotate between offices.
We have two locations. Ideal candidates would be able to work at both locations if needed:
- Northwest Tucson (Marana), near Orange Grove and Thornydale, off the I-10 (Orange Grove Rd. exit).
- Southwest Tucson, at the Tucson Marketplace, off the I-10, Ajo/Kino Way exit.

Compensation rate depends on previous experience and capability.
Responsibilities include:
Answering multi-line phone system
Scheduling appointments
Make next-day and same-day appointment reminder phone calls
Checking patients in and out
Verify patients' vision insurance benefits, co-pays, and deductibles
Bill vision plans for completed exams and patient visits
Open and close the office at the start of the day and clean as needed
Use automated equipment to perform patient pretesting
Preparing exam rooms for patient care / Rooming patients
Training patients on the insertion and removal of contact lenses
Office cleaning and maintaining a professional workspace.
Scanning patient charts into the EMR (electronic medical records)
Assisting with any other duties requested by the practice manager or doctor
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
