Fitness Center Associate

A primary function of this and every other job at the Tucson J is to ensure by whatever rational, ethical and legal means possible that every member, guest and visitor leave the “J” feeling just a little better than when they arrived.

As an ambassador of the JCC, the Fitness Center Associates represent the JCC to members and clients by delivering a positive fitness experience leading to member retention and client acquisition and retention.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Always maintain safety and order as primary focus during shift

· Greet all customers with a warm and welcoming attitude.

· Create Community

· Move around the room to be able to see all the vantage points of the entire fitness area.

· Enforce facility rules.

· Keep the facility tidy and clean per scheduled cleaning protocol. Pay attention to detail.

· Offer safe and appropriate training advice when asked and when safety is of concern.

· Stop all unruly and unsafe behavior.

· Provide CPR/First Aid/AED when needed.

· Track group fitness class numbers and weight room audit numbers accurately.

· Be familiar with Sports and Wellness programming.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Understand principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique.

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

· Adjust and operate fitness equipment.

· Ability to perform a variety of exercise routines.

· Possess excellent customer service skills.

REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification

PREFERRED:

· Bachelor s Degree in a related field preferred.

· National Certification

· Personal Trainer experience

This position is a part-time non-exempt position that may include weekend days and/or evenings and is covered by the Code of Personnel Practices for Professional Staff.
