The Police Records Assistant Superintendent position at the City of Tucson’s Police Department performs supervisory and management level work for the Records Section, with direct oversight of half of the supervisors. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, managing projects, and supporting both law enforcement and the community. This position ensures department policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations, analyzes data, and provides statistical research and reports to department leadership. This position is also responsible for overseeing training requirements for the section and the department. Work is performed under the supervision of the Police Records Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over Police Records personnel.
Responsibilitie
- sAssists with hiring, disciplining, evaluating employee performance, investigating and resolving grievances, and leading section activities
- .Supervises operations of the record section by planning, monitoring performance, scheduling and coordinating training, facilitating meetings, conducting interviews, informing personnel of policy and procedural changes, completing performance evaluations, resolving issues, and providing ongoing support and communication
- .Assists with records management issues by answering questions from department personnel regarding storage and retrieval, destruction, and retention of records
- .Ensures that unit work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as other applicable rules and requirements
- .Interprets Arizona State Law, Civil Service Rules, employment laws, Memorandums of Understanding, and a variety of other guidelines to guide and direct the team
- .Tests and validates new processes and programs to ensure team effectiveness
- .Updates policies and procedures, analyzes staff workloads, and reallocates resources as needed
- .Collaborates with intra- and inter- departmental personnel to implement policy or process changes
- .Submits requests for equipment and staffing needs and assists in tracking budget versus expenditures
- .Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned
- .Maintains technical and professional knowledge by attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, taking classes, and participating in developmental activities
