What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Specialist - Food Service (Effective 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR) position at Tucson Unified School District?
SUMMARY
Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains food service, refrigeration, and support equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Four (4) years experience in food service cooking and/or low temperature refrigeration equipment repair and maintenance, to include electrical, gas and plumbing installation and repair procedures
AND
Completion of a recognized trade training program in a related field or equivalent
Knowledge of applicable County, State, Federal electrical, safety, plumbing, and mechanical codes required.
40CFR Part 82, Subpart F Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type I or Type II
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Universal CFR certification
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check (at employee’s expense) or submission of valid Fingerprint card.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
Post-offer/pre-employment physical examination and 75 lb lift test
AZ Department of Transportation (ADOT) medical certificate
Valid Arizona Driver’s license
MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
