What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Tucson Wildlife Center?
Tucson Wildlife Center is the only wild animal rescue and hospital center in Southern Arizona. The Center is looking for an individual with a passion for the care of sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife in the region. Individuals will join a team that understands and is able to work with unique and challenging medical cases, while practicing all safety procedures.
Requirements: Experience in Veterinary technician required. Wildlife experience preferred.
Excellent animal assessment, handling and evaluation skills required. Excellent understanding of animal anatomy and the ability to communicate with veterinarians, and medical team regarding injured anatomical site required. Competency in the understanding of animal care during rescue, rehabilitation and release and providing medical services, including exams, radiographs, and anesthesia.
Must be able to lift at least 40.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Schedule:
· 10 hour Day shifts, two to three days/week
· Weekend availability
Experience:
· Veterinary Technician experience: 1 year (Required)
· Wildlife Rehabilitation Care (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care for animals, including administering medications and vaccinations.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and catheterization.
- Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with pet owners about their animals' health.
- Monitor animal behavior and vital signs, and perform laboratory tests as needed.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization within the clinic, ensuring a safe environment for both animals and staff.
