Major Primary Duties:
Project Management
- Manage Capital Projects: Develop and manage capital projects, financial budgets, and plans. Coordinate, consult, advise, and learn from team members.
- Oversee Business Aspects of Assets: Manage capital projects, compliance projects, and equipment reliability.
- Address Business Needs: Manage specific priorities and special projects as needed.
Process Improvement and Efficiency
- Lead and Implement Process Improvements: Identify, investigate, recommend, and implement changes to improve OEE, efficiency, effectiveness, and safety. Drive cost savings and operational improvements through process changes, capital investments, and automation projects. Oversee changes in processes, procedures, and equipment to enhance operations.
- Evaluate and Develop Manufacturing Processes: Design and conduct research programs, collaborate with equipment vendors, and apply knowledge of product design and fabrication to develop and improve manufacturing methods.
- Improve Manufacturing Efficiency: Analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Implement lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and optimize output.
- Define and Control Process Variables: Establish critical process variables, controls, metrics, and tolerances. Maintain accurate plant capacities by process.
- Use AutoCAD Software: Develop, design, and recommend plant and equipment layouts using AutoCAD.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare Reports: Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends to prepare product and process reports.
- Track Key Manufacturing KPIs: Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including labor efficiency and overtime.
- Maintain Labor Cost Database: Update direct labor costs and provide information to the plant accounting team.
Workforce Development
- Enhance Workforce Skills: Improve and verify technical skill levels of the production workforce and assist in training as needed.
- Develop Cost-Efficient Labor Standards: Use direct time studies and work sampling to create effective labor standards.
- Support Operations Team: Assist in achieving operational targets and troubleshooting production challenges.
Professional Development
- Maintain Professional Knowledge: Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, establish personal networks, and participate in professional societies
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Follow all plant safety practices, including LOTO and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all applicable specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and FDA/USDA regulations.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices: Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Industrial Engineer OR Five (5) or more years of experience in implementing process control solutions in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of USDA, FDA, and OSHA regulations
- Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- An understanding of the DMAIC process and ability to use these skills for continuous improvement.

Preferred Requirements:
- Masters in industrial engineering or related field
- Six or more years related work experience
- Kaizen, Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or Lean process facilitation
- Experience in process modeling and simulation
- Proven accomplishments in an industrial setting and an ability to work in a collaborative environment to optimize plant assets
- Broad knowledge of process engineering concepts, operations management, and unit operations
- Project management experience
- Understanding of PI (data historian), ACAD (auto CAD), MS Project
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting or an equivalent
- 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong work ethics with an attention to detail.
