JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Peer Recovery Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator for recovering clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Clients in recovery to readjust to their community.
- Provide peer support to help Client in recovery have their voices fully heard and their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point.
- Support peers to identify their area of need for professional support and services and communicate those needs to clinical staff.
- Transporting clients to the appropriate referral source or safe environment.
- Coach recovering clients on independent use of community resources.
- Maintain contact by phone and/or email with peer support to aid recovering clients after they leave the program to ensure their on-going success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the organization, if needed.
- Provide recovery education to service clients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
- Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency. Completes documentation, reports and captures data in accordance with Tuerk House processes. Refers patients to appropriate services in the community as necessary and documents referrals and outcomes.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Connecticut Community Recovery (CCAR) Training Required
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
- CPR and De-escalation skills
- Registration with MD NCPS
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of recovery center operations, operating principles, guidelines and bylaws.
- Excellent leadership, customer service, organizational and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate TH’s vision, and motivate others to achieve it organizationally, departmentally, and personally/professionally.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
- Has the ability to plan and organize work initiatives to successfully accomplish center/organizational goals and objectives.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate as appropriate.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify, develop and implement short/long-term strategic goals and objectives.
- Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships; influence, build credibility and trust. Ability to think critically as well as apply critical thinking skills.

- A personal belief in recovery and the recovery process.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians and the general public.
- An ability to flexibly engage people based on their own needs.
- Demonstrated ability to respect and maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with management, peers, customers and clients at all times.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand and speak English.
Background: This position requires successful background and drug test completion
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus.
