Summary of Responsibilities
The Plant Engineering position oversees the continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives for all current assets as well as supporting the engineering activities required in implementing upgrades, repairs and installations of new and old assets. The Plant engineer champions Capital improvement projects and represents Tufco on manufacturing projects including, but not limited to Vendor site and Tufco site Validation, and Engineering Management.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and manages the relocation of plant equipment, machine set-up and start-ups.
- Directs the activities of the engineering and reliability teams to drive continuous improvements via increased uptime, throughput and reduced waste
- Researches and makes recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and processes with potential for increasing efficiency and output.
- Designs mechanical upgrades to existing equipment.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of capital projects.
- Ensures all equipment is running and controlled to maximum efficiencies throughout the facility.
- A resource to the maintenance and production people regarding equipment capabilities, needs and options.
- Ability to support and interact effectively in a “self-directed” Collegial Team environment.
- Work with Reliability Engineer to build and train essential technicians to support planned and unplanned needs of operations and project teams driven by growth and improvement opportunities
- Work safely within the Plant
- Maintains all plant layouts and drawings
- Responsible for leading responsible equipment, process and facility design in adherence to product quality, associate safety and material flow
- Understand and comply with all lockout/tagout procedures.
- Must work and manage in a safe and ethical manner at all times.
- Must lead in a manner consistent with Tufco Policy and procedure
- Provide support and act as backup in the absence of the Reliability Engineering and Facilities Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline.
Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience:
7-10 years industrial engineering design experience and on packaging machinery.
Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong Communication skills.
- Computer proficiency including CAD software, MS Office required
- Ability to solve complex problems and trouble shoot typical Converting/Process equipment
- Control systems and power distribution systems.
Licenses/Certifications:
WI registered Professional Engineer’s license an asset.
