Position Overview:
Comparative Medicine Services (CMS) at Tufts University has an immediate opening for a Clinical Veterinarian. The role will support the Division’s veterinary team and will report directly to the Senior Director of CMS. This position plays a vital role in providing clinical veterinary care and support for a variety of research animals housed across our facilities on two campuses. The ideal candidate will contribute to ensuring the health and welfare of the animals while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as supporting the research faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide clinical veterinary support for research animals, including rodents and other species.
· Consult with research faculty and staff regarding animal care and use.
· Assist with teaching and training veterinary students and staff.
· Monitor animal health and welfare to ensure compliance with regulations.
· Support the maintenance of the animal program and facilities to meet AAALAC accreditation standards.
· Supervise CMS veterinary technicians and veterinary student externs.
· Assist with various administrative and programmatic tasks within the animal care division.
Qualifications:
· DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
· 2 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine.
· ACLAM board eligibility or certification is desired.
· Experience in a research support environment and familiarity with the IACUC review process and AAALAC accreditation.
· Experience with contract research is a plus.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
