Role Summary:
This role is responsible for operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and sideloaders to efficiently load and unload steel from trucks and machinery. You will also package steel bars using cardboard tubes and secure them with strapping to form bundles. Additionally, you will perform general shop cleaning duties to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Monday-Friday: 5 AM to 3:30pm and occasional Saturdays.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate fork trucks, side-loaders, and overhead cranes to load and unload steel materials.
- Package steel bars using cardboard tubes and secure bundles with strapping tools.
- Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of the shop area to ensure a safe workplace.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with all company policies.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in an industrial setting.
- Previous experience operating fork trucks or overhead cranes is a plus, but not required; training will be provided upon hiring.
- Must pass a physical and drug screening.
Technical Skills:
- Previous experience with fork trucks or overhead cranes is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, crawl, kneel, and exert 20 to 50 pounds of force.
- Requires finger dexterity and reaching capabilities.
- Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and hard hats, must be worn as required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing schedules and demands.
- Ability to work Saturdays when needed.
- Good attendance is mandatory.
